Jackson's first swimming lessons

Today was Jackson's first swimming lessons. They were given to him by KK and Papa as a birthday present (his birthday is coming up very soon) and he was SO excited about going!! His instructor's name is Miss Kelly and she was recommended to us by a friend of ours. Now, you should know that Jackson LOVES the water. He puts on his goggles, will go under the water completely, kick his feet, paddle his hands and even do flips in the water......just as long as he can touch the bottom. SO, he has always been in the "shallow end" and we have told him over and over not to go near the deep end.

Well, we get to the pool today and Miss Kelly welcomes us as we go through the gate. We make our introductions and she begins to lead us to the "Big Pool" (lap pool) where it isn't so crowded and Jackson isn't so sure about this. He thinks the water is "too deep" and doesn't want to get in. So, she leads him to the "smaller pool" where there is a shallow end AND a deep end to do the lessons. He did SO good!!! He kicked, came up for air, paddled with his hands - everything!!! EXCEPT for when it came to going near the dep end. OH NO!!! We have put a F-E-A-R of the deep end in Jackson and I feel so bad!!! Everytime she'd try to lead him to the deep end, Jackson would grab on to Miss Kelly and not let go. Not to mention the "girly shreal" he makes so EVERYONE within 5 feet of the pool can turn around and look at him!!! We're in trouble! We didn't get anywhere today with success in the deep end but we have a few more lessons to go so, maybe by the end of the week, we will master the deep end.

Here are a few pics and videos from the day...

Way to go, Jackson! He is swimming like a little fish in that last video!
